About this event
Many bereaved families still turn to the Church to provide a funeral service. Funerals account for a large proportion of those who only occasionally attend and act of worship.
The death may have been expected or sudden, in old age or youth, with or without overt faith, at home or elsewhere.
As well as funeral services, the Church provides a wide range of pastoral care to those who are terminally ill, and their carers, those suffering the los of an expected child through miscarriage, still-birth or neonatal death, and those bearing the continuing burden of bereavement.
At this event we shall consider ministry with the dying and bereaved. We shall look at various ways in which the funeral, committal and other services may be conducted, and at good practice in the relationship between clergy and funeral directors. We shall explore some of the wealth of liturgical resources for funerals and related occasions in Common Worship and elsewhere.
