About Praxis¶ The aims of Praxis
Praxis has developed three key aims:
¶ How we are organised Praxis is administered by a Council which consists of people nominated by the three founding bodies, and representatives chosen by the different regional groupings. This Council meets three times a year to plan events, and develop the work of Praxis. The Council appoints an executive committee to carry out its business and manage its agenda between meetings. The Chair of Praxis is appointed by the Church of England's Liturgical Commission, and the Chair of the Liturgical Commission serves as the honorary president. ¶ Why the name "Praxis"? The name Praxis comes from the Greek word for action, and has been chosen to emphasize our practical concerns; and to convey the conviction that a primary expression of Christian faith is the Church’s activity of worship. |
"The spirit of humblest worship is vital to the Church." - Handley Carr Glyn Moule "Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness." - I Chronicles 16 : 29 "Within the worship of the Christians are acts of wonder at the beauty of God in the created world and his transcending holiness beyond it." - Michael Ramsey |
